Taittinger Wood
Hello, my name is Peter and I am the woodworker of Taittinger Wood.
Woodworking has not always been my main focus but my passion for woodworking was born many years ago when I was at high school. As was the case for many, the pressures of educational achievement and vocational success were overly consuming. After completing a BSc in Physics and Diploma in Education, my career included working in education, transport, IT and finally, 28 years in Aviation.
Now in retirement, working with wood is a big part of my life, albeit that I still call it a hobby. My wife calls it my obsession. I have built tall boys, coffee tables, side boards, plant stands and chests of drawers but a few years back I decided to concentrate on making beautiful coffee tables and boards, be they cutting boards, chopping boards, cheese boards, charcuterie boards or big beefy rib boards. To further accentuate the wonder of wood, I now also add resin to some designs. This not only looks great, but uses some pieces of interesting timber that would previously have been discarded or cut into smaller pieces.
Taittinger Wood is not a factory. It is a one-person woodshop. In fact, I generally make on average only one or two items a week. They are unique and made with overarching attention to detail and finish that embraces my passion of working with this wonderful natural resource.
